elson's blog
here's a belated christmas greeting to you all,
Merry Christmas!
i had been away,
more accurately put,
i spent my christmas in a chalet
best christmas ever, i must say.
spending time with leechiu and my family
who ever said that love life clashes with family life?
i'm having the best of both worlds at the moment.
friends, be jolly for me!
hohoho. =D
**TOPIC CHANGE**
is my blogging style changing?
i think i've stopped thinking since the end of the A's
no more pondering about existentialism
nor have i continued about the Others in society
i've gotta get the gears turning again
feeling so air-headed i don't like it.
as such, i shall try to use my head
was just reading through some group blogs
you know, those set up by a group of friends.
i gotta say i really envy them.
some have been through many ups and downs together
braved many storms,
survived many boring lectures,
and withstood the challenge of changes around them.
but then, what i saw also included the fact that
friendship is a sticky, touchy thing to meddle with.
it really takes effort from every individual,
if you want to continue the bond,
especially when they no longer work/study together
when individuals meet new people,
perhaps even clicking better with their new peers.
in my opinion, (man, how long havent i used this phrase)
this may be the biggest challenge
- the juggling with many different cliques.
haha, this may sound daunting,
but it appears that clique rivalries are common.
i guess what i'm trying to highlight here is my own life
(oh right, if this is getting boring, i suggest you stop reading)
i can't say that i have many cliques,
but one thing is certain,
i've had many cliques.
but the sad thing is that few escaped the
vicious claws of time and change (Gothic, anybody =P)
**elson's history coming up next**
(reluctant history students, stop HERE)
i'm doing this to relive my memory.
my very first clique was an all-boys clique
surprised, anyone?
and nope, its not from montfort. =)
this very first clique was the most happening.
from soccer to table-tennis to badminton
from trading 'dragonball Z' cards to selling them
from game boy to game boy pockets
yes, it was SO happening.
so happening that we nearly got into trouble with the cops
for playing soccer at void decks
and damaging the fluorescent lamps.
well, everytime that happens,
we would go "Spread out! time to go home!"
haha, those were the days.
sadly, we lost contact when we got to different schools
sms-es were non-existent then.
my second clique was a 90% girls group,
the only two guys were me and yonglin.
ok, i guess this is the first time anyone's heard of him?
yeah, anyway, this was a band clique.
and we were rather big a clique
we used to go for meals before or/and after band
and chalets too,
but well this clique fell apart in sec 3,
it got separated into two factions,
the right and the left wings. (haha, history lesson!)
at that time, yonglin and i were not part of the feud
between these two sub-groups
so to avoid conflict,
we formed a clique ourselves,
where we were at a neutral stance
and still friends with everyone.
smart aye? =P
well, our clique was another all-guys clique.
we called ourselves the 4Cs,
well, each of us had a negative word to describe us
and mine was 'Cocky'
not surprising la huh?
this was the band-jamming group
since yonglin and i were entitled to open the band room anytime
abusing authority?
haha, its history.
but even this clique got lost when we graduated
haha, sadly.
clique no. four was formed in pj
another band people clique.
but its just a 'mostly-band-people' clique.
this was a movies-cum-study clique
ok, a bit of k-boxing too.
(just to clarify, i went twice only)
this was the most short-lived clique.
we only lasted 7 months,
when i retained, and they moved up.
but at that time, i had another clique as well,
ok, this was the lamest clique, called the 'Nutzis'
we ya-kuned and met up once in a while.
(ya kun is a place that sells roti and kopi-Os)
this was the most dispersed group of people
who just met up once in a long while.
one group i am proud to say i try to sustain.
it was just last year that i became an 'acquaintance-nomad'
where i didn't really have any firm rooting to any cliques.
i was just jumping around.
like a flea.
and this continued until this year,
nevertheless, its a 'friends-aplenty' period for me.
did i leave out any cliques?
if so, i'm sorry.
it slipped my mind.
haha.
the problem with me is that i'm too passive
i just let things be
without putting in any effort.
i mean, sometimes, its like
'if-they-never-put-in-effort, why-should-i' kinda thing.
i guess some of you may be able to relate to that, haha.
also, i feel its easier for two friends to keep in contact
than to have many friends together.
coordination is definitely a problem for me
to any friends whom i've hurt or neglected,
i'm sorry, i didn't mean to do it.
wow, i think this is my longest entry as yet
haha, woo hoo!
