solitude

"solitude is being alone without feeling lonely"

holding that cheap glass mug
downing a whole bottle of stout.
strands of black, otherwise grey, hair.
weathered face and wrinkled skin.
the man sat in the coffee shop
alone.
"why does he drink in the coffee shop and not at home?"
company. i believe.
somehow i saw myself in him.

a man trying to be blend with the environment
of sorts.
he doesnt talk.
he looks and listen.
observing.
he saw me looking at him.
i turned away.

sandwiched between two crowds,
front and back.
i walked in solitude.
i did not talk
i look and listen
observing.

"why arent you talking?"
"why talk?"

i enjoy the company
i enjoy my solitude.

we were three persons apart.
but its nice to know.
