the sand in the eye

and the clouds gather
wind blows
land breeze. sea breeze
whatever
the calm before the storm
a speck got into my eye
how amazing it is
for a particle so small
to cause a severe irritation
then you came down on my eye
like God's gift to soothe me
the droplet of comfort
that washed away my pain
one droplet is enough
then came the storm
slowly, more and more the rain fell
what used to be that droplet of grace
has become pellets of fury
i seeked shelter under the rain tree
what irony!
NO! not a rain tree!
i left that shabby comfort zone

the rain stopped

i strolled along the meandering path
i kicked a stone
sand flew along with it
yet again it happened
the sand in the eye
i hoped that it would rain
again
this time, you never showed
fine, i told myself
heck with the rain
i'll get a larger pair of...
...spectacles...
